When it comes to the internet and computer networking, TP-Link has certainly made a name for it. As one of the biggest companies in the world that produce computer networking hardware, you have most definitely heard of it and you probably are using one or two of their products right now. Maybe you have even used one of their routers to connect to the internet and load up this article you are reading right now. Life is funny like that sometimes, but what certainly is not fun is trying to figure out how to configure your new TP-Link router, or maybe an old router that you have had for years before deciding that you wanted to take a look at the settings and see if there is anything interesting there.
Why you may want to fiddle with the TP-Link router settings | TP-Link Login
In the settings of any internet router, TP-Link routers included, there are a number of things that you may want to try and change or play with. These settings can, obviously, be used to change your wireless information. You can change the name or even the password for your wireless network so that you can make your WiFi stand out in the crowd with a new name, or more secure, by changing the password into something that is harder to crack.
Although routers usually come with a complicated 20 character password with random uppercase and lowercase letters and numbers mixed up so much that it can not even begin to resemble a word, which makes them extremely secure and hard to crack via brute force, but also extremely hard to remember. So you might want to change it into something that is easier to remember for you.
Also, in the router settings, you can find an option called port forwarding. Port forwarding is basically opening a port on your router so that you can access something running on that port on your local network even when you are not connected to your WiFi. This is very useful if you are running some kind of a server, be it a game server, or a file server, or whatever.

The first step in opening these settings is making sure that you are connected to your router. The connection can be established either via WiFi or cable, it doesn’t really matter in this case. You can also open these settings even from a tablet or mobile device, it does not have to be a computer.
The next step is to open your web browser and type in the following IP address: 192.168.1.1, or 192.168.0.1. It depends on the model of the router that you have, but one of those addresses will work. Next, you will be prompted to type in a username and password to log into your router. The default here is an admin for the username and admin for the password unless you changed it in the past.
Type in the username and password and click login and that’s it! You are now successfully logged into your TP-Link router and can change any setting that you may want, although we do not recommend fiddling with the purpose of the setting of which you are not sure of.
